Heard in the Crowd
Random thoughts we've heard from Packer fans over the past few weeks:
The offensive line woes have gotten worse as the season has gone on. Many people are predicting we'll see a juggled lineup to start Week 7 vs. the Commanders (that still doesn't sound right).
Losing Christian Watson and Randall Cobb to injury has certainly contributed to the offensive woes.
Aaron Jones needs more touches
Is our Special Teams unit improved? Some plays they look fantastic and others cause flashbooks to San Fran last year.
The defense has shown stretches of strong play but multiple 2nd half "stinkers" is cause for concern.
Rookie Quay Walker has taken some lumps in the run game but still shows the athleticism that made him a 1st round pick
**Editors Note** As called for by our Sports Director, Joe Barry finally lined Jaire Alexander up on a team's best vs the Jets and the results were outstanding. He was targeted 5 times, allowed 1 cat
PLAY OF THE GAME:
LAKESIDE LUTHERAN EDITION
FRIDAY, SEPT. 23RD VS BELOIT TURNER
This past week, Lakeside celebrated their Homecoming with games, class competitions (Madelyn’s PowderPuff football team took first), and a parade. The culmination of those celebrations took place under the Friday Night Lights as Lakeside parents, staff, students, and alumni gathered to watch their beloved Warriors take on the visiting Spartans of Beloit-Turner.
Lakeside entered the game with a 2-1 conference record (4-1 overall) but were expecting a tough challenge from the Spartans, who came in with an overall record of 3-2. The game started as expected with the teams trading touchdowns and the Warriors went into the half leading 20-14. Scoring slowed down in the third quarter as each team scored once, and Lakeside clung to their 28-21 lead.
Things were looking good in the 4th quarter as Lakeside extended their lead to 42-21, but the Spartans weren’t done. In total, the teams combined for 36 points in the 4th quarter. One of the biggest plays of the game came with just 4 minutes to play.
After a Spartan TD, the Warriors needed to answer. It only took two plays. Quarterback Levi Birkholz ran what is called Inside Veer to the left side of the line. He put the ball into the belly of the dive back, which caused both the OLB and safety to crash inside. He then pulled the ball back, and with a nice block on the edge from his WR, raced 54 yards to the end zone to deliver, in the words of Wayne Larrivee, the dagger. The Warriors closed out the game, winning 50-33.

(The Spartan Defense helped the Warrior cause by running a stunt with their ILB and DT - The LB (#99) ran inside to the A gap, which meant the OLB (#20) had to cover the dive)
(The safety (#21) misread the play, which left only the corner on the edge to try to make the tackle)
(which he missed)
(and so did the free safety who chased him down from the backside)
(54 yards later, Levi scored the TD. The ensuing extra point put the Warriors ahead 50-27)
