Buboltz Sports Roundup

Winter Sports Season kickoff!

The winter sports season is in full swing and the Buboltz clan is well represented as one would expect from this family of athletic achievers.

The largest area of participation is on the basketball court.  Starting in Appleton, the Vanderhoof twins are lacing up their sneakers to represent Mount Olive.  Natalie is playing on Mount Olive's A team this year in addition to the Junior Foxes team, while sister Alyssa is playing on the Mount Olive B team.

In a move that was completely unsurprising to (c)uncles Justin and Nick, Grace Vanderhoof not only made the Kettle Moraine freshman girls team, but she has been making a significant contribution right off the bat.  In Grace's freshman debut, she dropped 6 points and through 2 games was the team's leading rebounder.  I'll repeat that, 5'1" Grace Vanderhoof was the leading rebounder. In an interview with the Post Pattern recently (while taking in the Badgers VB first round match), Grace revealed her team's first year coach seems a little more interested in conditioning drills than actual basketball playing. It's quite possible we may have another coach in our ranks!

Moving to Watertown, Hannah Vanderhoof is keeping quite busy. Pulling double duty, Hannah plays for both the Junior Warriors and Trinity-St. Luke.  For the Warriors, Hannah is a shooting guard and her team sports a spiffy 8-4 record heading into the end of season tournament.  For TSL, Hannah, a 7th grader, is the first girl off the bench behind all 8th graders.  Her team picked up 2 wins last weekend in their opening action of the year.

(note, while the first image of Hannah below appears to just be a picture, it is a video and can be clicked on).

Caroline Buboltz joins the Buboltz Sports Roundup for the first time in the field of gymnastics.  Caroline is a member of the North Shore Gymnastics team and has been in gymnastics since she was just 1 1/2 years old. Caroline says her favorite parts of gymnastics are the trampoline, floor, and bars. When she's not at the gym, Caroline can be found working on her favorite trick, a pullover on the bar in her basement.

Caroline is joined by cousin Gwen Simmons, who is a member of the Gymfinity optionals team. Gwen will enter her 6th year of competition when the season kicks off in January.  Due to the nature of gymnastics there isn't really "down time" like those wimpy football players. Gwen hits the gym 5 days a week, and sometimes more when special training opportunities arise. To give our readers a sense of what to expect next month, we've included a video of Gwen's floor performance from last year's season.

We also have another "first timer" in this week's edition as young Silas Dubs joins his older cousins in the field of competition.  Silas has kicked off his indoor soccer season and with his family genetics is bound for great things on the pitch! Look for the combination of Dubs to Cobb (yes THAT Cobb, Randall's son Caspian is teammates with Silas) to score goals in bunches this year!

Finally, Noelle Vanderhoof has taken her love of performing to a new level as she continues her dance career for the Warriors. Her team put on a festive performance recently and we're thrilled to share the routine with our readers.
