The Vault
This week we are treating our readers to two editions of the 1978 Post Pattern. First, going back to the week of November 13th, 1978, we see the standard format which leads with a picking update on the progress through Week 11. Week 11's Post Pattern included an article how a rule changed in 1974 affected the kicking game. We also hear about some of the readers favorite players, including a small write up from our beloved Aunt Marvis.
For our 2nd Vault trip of this week, we skip ahead a few weeks to early December, 1978. When I previewed the 7th Edition of the '78 Post Pattern, I couldn't help but think how Doug's take on "A Coach in Every Seat" mirrors how nephew Justin views fan commentary in 2022. The 7th edition also shares further "player profile" writeups from the Impeccables. Hoofer, aka "The West Allis Kid" shares his appreciation for Jim Taylor in "Fullback or Freight Train?". Anyone who knows Rick would fully expect his article would be on Hall of Famer Herb Adderly. Not to follow in his elders footsteps, Doug blazed his own trail in sharing his favorite player (Doug...next time we meet I want to hear all about Charlie Napper).
