2024 Senior Night Edition

We start our "Homecoming" edition of the Buboltz Kids Sports Update with some late breaking news.

In Minnesota, Jack Wilma and the Shakopee Sabers finished their regular season with an undefeated record.  That punched their ticket to the championship game which was played under the lights Saturday evening. With a hard fought effort, the Sabers dropped a tough one 7-0.  According to our reporter on scene, there was possibly a few questionable calls (or lack there of). Showing that football is more than simply learning how to block and tackle, Jack's mother shared that he and the boys learned about brotherhood, integrity, and grit. Congrats on a great season Jack!

Staying on the grid iron, Griffin Keller wrapped up his flag football season last this week.  We don't have an update on how Griff did, but we DO know he has continued his duties as water boy for the Brillion Lions varsity football team. Griffin's contribution was certainly noticed on a warm fall evening last night as the Lions won 42-0 this past Friday. Here, Griffin is pictured with a random stranger who appears to be wearing the letter C backwards.

Staying in Brillion, Ella Kuchenbecker, pictured here on Senior Night earlier this week, is approaching the end of her volleyball career.  The Lady Lions have two games left in their regular season before entering tournament play. Ella, an Outside Hitter, is closing in on her 300th career kill and looks to help lead Brillion to a deep playoff run.  Best of luck in the playoffs Ella!

It's a common saying that football is a game of inches.  Senior Blake Vanderhoof has learned that lesson as his FVL Foxes, 3-4, need a win next week and some help to qualify for the playoffs. Three of the Foxes losses this year have been either by 1 point or were in OT.  That hasn't stopped Blake from being a positive force on the team as it's been a memorable year.  Good luck to Blake and the team vs Shawano Community this week and beyond!

Alyssa Vanderhoof has been coming on strong on the tennis court. Winner of 2 of his last 3 matches, Alyssa has been steadily improving all year and is looking forward to competing again next year. Way to go Alyssa!

The Lady Foxes have been on a roll all year, only dropping one match on the season.  Natalie Vanderhoof has been a key member of that team, contributing 6 kills in a recent match vs Waupaca.  Natalie and team have one more match left in the regular season plus an end of year tournament.  Congrats Natalie, and best of luck the rest of the way!

Lakeside celebrated Homecoming this week which meant that sisters Hannah and Noelle Vanderhoof got to compete on the gridiron in a hotly contested game of PowderPuff football. Thankfully Coach V was onhand to officiate.

Noelle also spent time on stage as she choreographed and danced in the class dance routine competition and additionally sang "Aint No Mountain High Enough" with Jeremiah Borgwardt.

Staying at Lakeside, Senior Jack Simmons returned from a nearly month long absence to help propel the defending Division 2 state champs to a 3rd place finish in the Westby-Reed Invitational. Jack, who bounced back after a health issue, looked strong in his return to racing.  The Warriors head to Columbus next week for the conference championship before their sectionals meet in Oregon for their debut in Division 1.

Caroline Buboltz started Cedarburg Poms this Fall, performing in the Cedarburg Homecoming parade and recent Cedarburg Dawgs football game! She’s excited to be trying something new this year and enjoying performing with friends.

Annie Buboltz just wrapped up her soccer season with her mom as a Coach for K4/K5 peewee soccer! She played on team Dynamo. Let’s Go, Dynamo!  While there was a lot of sitting on the ball, laying in the grass, and picking grass from all players on the team, Annie had some great moments in games and she sure enjoyed playing with friends!
