1979 Edition 1
Our staff at the Post Pattern spent some time this summer preparing the wayback machine as we dialed up the year 1979. We were intrigued to learn things called the "Sony Walkman" and "McDonalds Happy Meal" were first delivered to the public this year. Even more fascinating was the clothing we spotted people wearing, things like "velour sweaters", burgundy slacks, "car coats" and tube tops. Despite our better judgement, we've continued to proceed with sharing the Post Pattern's takes from that year, a year that saw the Packers play their first night game at Lambeau (a MNF contest vs the New England Patriots). We won't spoil how the season ends for you here, but there's a reason this period was referred to as the "dark days" of the Packer franchise.
The introductory edition of the 1979 Post Pattern teed up an exciting picking race as well as an introduction to a more regular "Guest Guessers" section. While the '78 version charged $1.50 to their readers, the publication was clearly doing better in '79 as there was no mention of a fee that season (ad revenue must have been booming by this point).
