January Update
Hannah Vanderhoof and the Lady Warriors of Lakeside Lutheran continue to have a fantastic season. Now 7-1 on the year, the team is continuing to improve. Hannah has been a mark of consistency on the court, averaging 8.3 points per game. This past Thursday she had one of her best games, tallying 11 points and a whopping NINE steals.
Alyssa Vanderhoof has switched her focus to the arts and will be one of four freshman at FVL who will be involved witih their upcoming musical, Tarzan. The show will be in March. Tickets go on sale January 20th and can be found here. Break a leg Alyssa!
Sister Natalie continues her athletic career and has been extremely busy. The FVL basketball team is a bit undermanned lately and Natalie has been parlaying that into a bunch of minutes on the court. In her last three games, Natalie and pulled down 27 boards. The team got a big win vs Marinette last week and after a grueling road trip, is looking to stack some more wins in the friendly confines of FVL High School. As if that isn't enough, Natalie is also engaged with club volleyball. Natalie will be a front row player for her club, which has one tourney under their belt this season and will be back at the net Sunday (seriously, don't these clubs realize it's Packer playoff Sunday???)
Staying with the arts, Carolin Buboltz dazzled audiences at the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center in late December. The cast put on a wonderful telling of the Wizard of Oz. Ms. Buboltz had her first speaking role and showed her range, holding down the parts of an Apple Tree, a Munchkin, and in the ensemble of the Emerald City Choir!
With this success now behind her, Caroline has targeted her next production...auditioning for the timeless Peter Pan through the Cedarburg Children's Theater.
Bravo Caroline!
Molly Horn, who also is normally highlighted for her theatrical work, has currently set her sights on the basketball court. Molly, playing for the Trinity Trotters Tigers has two games under her belt so far. In the first, her team won 20-10. The team dropped a close contest in their following game. Molly noted that even though they were down early, the team made a great comeback before running out of time.
2024 Post Pattern picking champion, Willis Horn, has turned his attention from picking winners, to lacing up the skates and hitting the ice. We caught up with the champ after a grueling session on online video games with his buddies to ask a few questions about his new endeavor. Willis developed his interest in hockey after visiting Scheels when they had an open skate event. After convincing his parents to pony up for the equipment, he has been actively learning the game. When asked what they learn in practice, Willis said "pretty much everything".
For our final update of the evening, this one is HOT off the press! Jack Wilma's Shakopee team was in a tournament this weekend as we were publishing this. Jack was a MONSTER in the tourney on defense, getting loads of rebounds and playing very aggressively. In the title game, We JUST found out that Jack's team made it to the title game, where he contributed a few buckets and kept up his patented D.
Well done Jack!
